Lecturer, Assessor & IQA

June Brent.

CIDESCO,  CIBTAC, ITEC, IIHHT, IHBC, IIST,  Cert. Ed, B.A. (Ed) Hons,  Member of IFL, BABTAC

I qualified in 1979 with one of the Industry’s leading Beauty Schools in Manchester.  My qualifications enabled me to set up and run beauty salons for others in the South & South West of England, and then moving to the South coast, I set up my own successful salon in Gosport in 1984.

I started my teaching studies on a part time basis at Southampton University whilst working full time in my salon, and then took up a lecturer position at Chichester College in 1993.  I taught full time, co-ordinating and developing beauty courses from level 1 through to degree level.   I became an advanced teaching practitioner in 2001 and was promoted to Head of Hair, Beauty & Holistic Therapies in 2008.

During my time teaching at Chichester College, I was lead Internal Verifier and an External Verifier for City & Guilds.  I was also Chair of the Quality Committee and on the Higher Education Committee at the College.

I left the College in 2013, and started my own online beauty & holistic business, and then fired by my love of essential oils, I started Akila Aromatherapy, which sells ethically sourced and pure essential and carrier oils.  I make and sell various aromatherapy products and massage blends to therapists and the general public.

My passion and enthusiasm for my subject makes it a joy to share and enthuse the students that I both have taught and currently teach, I believe that education makes a lasting contribution to a person and it is important for them to acquire both the knowledge and skills required to succeed in their chosen vocation and in the wider world.  I am able to adapt my teaching methods to suit the learning styles of my students.

In addition to teaching at the Academy and running my own aromatherapy business, I am also on the Education Panel and am an Accreditation Inspector for the Federation of Holistic Therapists.

I very much hope to have the pleasure of teaching you.
