Dear Colleagues, VTCT update regarding the National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) for the hairdressing, barbering and beauty therapy services sector.VTCT has been working collaboratively with a range of industry stakeholders, including Ofqual, the qualification regulator, to agree the mitigation approaches for our NVQs to provide a cohesive approach for all stakeholders. It has been agreed that adaptation is the only appropriate mitigation during the current COVID-19 situation to support learners on the NVQs at Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 who were due to complete by 31st July 2020. At the heart of this decision-making process was our joint priority to ensure the integrity of occupational competency and safety in our qualifications in order to support learners into employment or further study. The adaptations to evidence requirements have been specified for each unit and ensure that there is 100% coverage of the assessment criteria.VTCT has consulted and continues to engage with employers, centres and industry representatives to ensure the integrity of the mitigation approach and that this is communicated effectively across industry. Documentation detailing this agreed approach will be shared with centres on Monday 22nd June 2020.
