WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This qualification provides advanced therapy treatments for the face and body. It is a natural progression from level 2 and you would be an extremely well qualified therapist highly sought after in employment. You will acquire an excellent expertise in advanced body and facial therapies. If you are already qualified in any units these can be accredited to the diploma although you may be required to show your lecturer a treatment. We run the course over a very short time scale and 100% commitment and attendance is required.
The course contains 8 units and as case studies will be required for most of the units you must be prepared to allot reasonable time to developing and practising these new skills. The Academy has a salon and we will book you clients to work on. This will be arranged with your lecturer.
COURSE CONTENT
The following modules will be covered in the course:
WORK OPERATIONS
This unit continues your training in Health and Safety and ensures the correct procedures for carrying out risk assessments within the working environment.
PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES
In this unit you will need to cover as aspects of promotions and promotional activities and give details how and who your target audience will be.
ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY
Covering all the major systems of the human body: Skeletal, Muscular, Digestive, Urinary, Endocrine, Lymphatic, Nervous, Cardiovascular and Respiratory. You will be set workbooks on each of the systems for home study.
BODY MASSAGE
After studying human anatomy and physiology, the classic deep-tissue Swedish body massage movements will be taught. Working in pairs, you will both give and receive massage to fully appreciate the effects of the different techniques. You will use oil, cream and talc for differing skin types and learn how to adapt your techniques to suit different individuals. Within this unit you will cover the appropriate usage of G5, Audio Sonic and Infra Red mechanical treatments.
PRE BLENDED AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE
A full, in-depth Aromatherapy study with a specific massage routine. You will learn about the sourcing, extraction, distillation, properties and benefits of essential oils, and how to blend them to meet your clients' needs. This module requires case studies to be performed at home.
INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE
This unit covers a variety of Indian massage movements. The Indian Head Massage works on the energy of chakras and is a great way of relieving stress and its effects on the systems of the body. Tension is relieved through relaxation of the muscles, and improved circulation to the brain helps to clear the mind and improve hair and scalp conditions. During this unit you will learn how to perform, adapt and give after care advice for Indian Massage.
STONE THERAPY MASSAGE
This unit is a unique massage using the hot stone technique which enables a deeper more penetrative massage without tiring the therapist. It has become very popular over recent years in health farms, spas and salon. Excellent for relaxation, deep tissue massage with the added advantage of heat therapy.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Level 2 beauty therapy is compulsory. End of Unit tests will be on the completion of each unit.A good general education is essential for this demanding course
An excellent level of English is required. You must be able to speak, read, write and understand English fluently. You may be asked to sit an entry test.
DURATION
This course is offered during a daytime over a period of 12 weeks or evenings over a period of 28 weeks.In order to achieve a fast track daytime course your full attention is required.
1 day to be spent working in salon as work experience (OPTIONAL)
