Introduction to Aromatherapy

 

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

Aromatherapy treatments benefit both the body and mind of your clients. This treatment combines soothing massage with essential oils to refresh the skin's natural balance. This course will appeal to both holistic therapists and anyone interested in complimentary and natural medicines. COURSE CONTENT

The following modules will be covered in the course:

                                                                                              

HEALTH & SAFETY

Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety is a fundamental part of the course ensuring that you understand all aspects in relation to the work place. The theory is covered in a home study pack whilst the practice element is maintain throughout the course.

 

PRINCIPALS & PRACTICES OF COMPLIMENTARY THERAPIES

This is the study of key historical factors and theoretical background for complimentary therapies. Knowing the main influences on working within the complimentary field and understand the key aspects of good clinical practice.

 

ANATOMY, PHYSIOLOGY & PATHOLOGY FOR COMPLIMENTARY THERAPIES

This aspect of the modules covers the identification of all the systems of the body, there structure, function, and the  common pathologies associated with each of the systems.

 

PROVIDING AROMATHERAPY

This module covers the principals of aromatherpy, relaxation treatments, the theory and techniques. Skin types and characteristics, underlying body structures, essential oils, carrier oils and methods of use. It includes advice on self treatment, relaxation and time management whilst evaluating the the effectiveness and results of the treatment.

 

REFLECTIVE PRACTICE FOR AROMATHERAPY

To be able to apply and understand reflective practice and self awareness. Identifying of strengths and weaknesses and removal of limitations in order to improve. 


 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Swedish Body Massage is required, and  a good general education is essential as this is a demanding course.
 An excellent level of English is required. You must be able to speak, read, write and understand English fluently. You may be asked to sit an entry test if necessary. Entry is via initial interview.

 

DURATION

 Four days plus an assessment appointment. This will be split over a period of seven weeks to allow sufficient time to reflect on your learning and to start your case studies with guidance. Once you have completed the input of your course you will need to allow sufficient time to complete all of your case studies and return for your assessments and test papers.

This course can be attained within 3-6 months.

 

COSTS

 £450.00 plus an assessment fee of £50.00

A VTCT lifetime registration fee of £16.00 may be required.

A deposit of £250 is required upon enrolment and the balance can be paid on conclusion of the theory content.. A complete product and equipment kit is needed this may be added to the balance if necessary.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AWARDED

The Academy of Beauty Therapy offers industry-recognised qualifications and at the completion of your course and providing that you provided sufficient evidence your will be awarded the following qualifications:

 

VTCT level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy - Awarded by VTCT Examination Board

Certificate in Aromatherapy - Awarded by The Academy of Beauty Therapy

 

Both of which will enable you to obtain insurance from any recognised Insurance Company.

You will need the following items followed by individual kits for each of the modules.

Pens, Pencils, Ruler, Colouring in pencils
